Driving can be very fast to get to the tigers, and the organisation isn't near what we experienced in Kanha. If you have to choose which parks you go, go to Kanha it's better organized, the scenery is better and it has slightly more biodiversity. Jeet b Kolkata Calcutta , India contributions.

Just returned from Bandhavgarh with heavy heart. After long 10 years went back to Bandhavgarh for 5th time. I had those wonderful memories but what I saw is completely different. Bandhavgarh has changed, it has deteriorated. I am not speaking about Tiger Sighting. We saw 6 Tigers in our 5 safari. What hurt me is the ambiance, highly non professional attitude from Guides and Drivers and above all a questionable administration.

Bandhavgarh core is divided in 3 zones Tala, Magadhi and Khatauli. We did 4 safari in Tala and one in Magadhi.

Tala has 5 routes out of which Route A is closed. In my case in all 4 safari Forest Administration allotted me 'C' Route which is the less sighting area and hilly terrain. In front of the forest office there are many fishy characters, reasons better known to them. In summer morning park timing is till 11 am, but once Tiger is sighted they will try to bring out by 10am.

Guides never try to track tiger by pug marks or alarm call. They rely on asking each other. Mobile phone connectivity is available inside jungle because villages are close to core area. Administration has no control over Drivers and Guides. I was really surprised when saw one guide is making noise with empty mineral water bottle to draw attention of Tiger at the place of sighting.

Hard to believe this is Bandhavgarh. Magadhi zone is nothing new, it is old 'C' Route of undivided Tala Zone. From 'Charger Point' it is divided and renamed as Magadhi. Khatauli is just opposite to Magadhi earlier it was buffer area. Bandhavgarh was the leader in Indian Jungle Safari, he showed the way.

Rest of India learnt from him. But now others have gone much ahead, Kanha developed immensely but the leader has deteriorated. Sighting of Tiger is not only the criteria. If anyone wants to see tiger he may visit zoo.

Please do not forget it is their home, we have to abide by their terms. Don't make them an item for human entertainment. Sorry to say these harsh truth, but please do something otherwise within a short time casual tourists will treat it as weekend time pass and picnic spot. Bandhavgarh will loose it's pride and real wildlife lovers. For the Game drives all the Gipsy jeeps line up outside the gate for the morning and afternoon openings.

At the designated time the gate is opened and the jeeps with the driver,Park warden and guests drive into the park. As you go into the park about feet on your right hand side set back is a green building where it would seem they keep the Elephants they do have chains around there feet obviously to restrain them and they do seem happy enough.

However just recently a photographer named Norman Watson took some photos that would suggest something very sinister being carried out by the Mahouts there. If you Google Elephants Beaten in Bandhavgarh you can see exactly what happens to them and make your own mind up. Anyway the jeeps seem to travel in convoy until they start separating down different tracks all awaiting the elusive warning cry from the Monkeys or the Deer that wander the Park indicating a Tiger close by.

Now when this happens all of the jeeps in earshot of the cry speed up and suddenly its like being on a racing circuit with them all traveling at very high speeds so as to get the best viewing position of The Tiger now when the Tiger moves so do the Jeeps its no wonder they sit in the large water holes as there they have peace and quite for as long as they stay there. But as soon as they move they are hounded again by the Jeeps until they disappear into the under growth where once again they find peace.

Would not return as I cannot condone cruelty to animals. Elephants are beaten and traumatised at this park. Elephants here are regularly chained together and beaten horribly - even little baby elephants and elephants trying desperately to escape thier abuse. They are tiny skeletal baby elephants - absolutely heart breaking and some of the worst cases of animal abuse I've ever seen. These are wild elephants that have been caught and beaten until they break their spirits.

It's obvious this park and its staff don't care about animals and animal conservation at all. If they did they would never allow elephant mahouts - or anyone!! Please so not support this barbarism.

The animal abusers at this park should be in prison, not making any money from tourism. SoHoNYC75 1 contribution. I can NOT believe the abuse I witnessed! Mahouts beating their elephants, super skinny baby elephants, baby elephants in cages and chained. Scared for dear life. Also they had multiple people riding an elephant at once. Trip Advisor please remove this attraction from your site. Harshal-India Mumbai, India 81 contributions.

Bandhavgarh, Madhyapradesh is around Kms from Jabalpur which has access to both Rails and Airways. Roads to the park are very good and you will reach in roughly 3. There are plenty of resorts, hotels and lodges to meet budgets of all kinds.

Before you plan a trip to Bandhavgarh or for that matter any Tiger reserve please ensure you have tickets to park bare minimum one for core zone and one for Buffer zone. Tickets are available online and you can check with the hotels you are making reservation with. While you may also get tickets on spot but the slots are very very limited for that and rush and demand is crazy. Buffer zone is that part of jungle where Govt. Core zone is a jungle where there is absolutely no human settlement.

There is no physical fencing between Buffer and Core zones and you will spot wild animals in both regions. However the chances of spotting wild animals specially a Tiger are much higher in Core zone.

This is purely because animals try and stay away from the human settlements and venture to buffer zone only in search of food or if they are pushed out of their territories. However completely opposite might happen since no one can really control the nature. Hence a bare minimum of 1 core and 1 buffer Safari should be booked to give yourself a good chance of spotting tigers. You will find tiger anywhere if you are lucky, might just happen you visit all 3 core zones and see nothing and than find a tiger sitting on road on your return way to Hotel.

Personally I visited Tala and khitauli and gate 5 from buffer. There are some visitors who have spotted a leopard as well. As I conclude I know like me majority of you are planning to visit Bandhavgarh for tiger spotting but trust me had I not seen any tiger I would still be returning back without regrets as the Jungle itself is an enriching experiencing.

Away from the hustles or daily life, you get to experience the calmness and once in a Jungle you know there is nothing other than Nature that controls everything. Happy to take any queries which will be helpful to travellers. Lori O 1 contribution. All elephants are starved, caged and chained.

Toby O 6 contributions. Great safari organised by local guide. That made us want to come and visit group of 3. All done at very short notice around Christmas I did not go through a true safari company but after looking for lots of advice off Trip Advisor, etc, saw lots of references to a local, Mr Mukesh Barman and mukeshmpsafari gmail.

Very glad I did. Due to varied topography, the Bandhavgarh national park provides ample opportunity to spot the majestic Indian tiger and some rarely seen animals like leopard and sloth bear. Due to high wildlife sighting it is becoming popular amongst tourists visiting India. Area: sq. Share Home Packages Book Now.
